It's That Time of Year Again

It's that holiday time of year again. Time to stuff ourselves with turkey & stuffing, yummy treats and holiday lights popping up everywhere.

Also, time for holiday cards. What do you say when you're doing the same thing, just a different day? Last year I got the wild idea to make our holiday cards. When you're sending out to over 100 people, that has got to be one of the craziest things. Holidays are complicated enough. Add to that the fact that I put out a monthly newsletter for our business clients and I just about sliced my wrists with the paper I was working with to make it all stop.

So this year, if we have an email address, we may just go paperless! And for those of whom we don't have email for, snail mail may or may not be happening. If you really want to know what we've been up to this year, the blog's the best way.

It's pretty much the same stuff, different year. Business, church, us, no kids, 2 dogs, etc. etc. We'll let you know if there's any new additions or interesting tidbits! Otherwise, it's been a good, limited eventful year!

Misinformed

Many of you who bother to read the blog are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (AKA "The Mormons"). But for those of you who are not, you may have heard many things in the news lately that are derogatory or false about the church I belong to. Here is a link to a website that has information about our church as well as the link to the press releases that the church puts out on a regular basis. As always, to my friends of other faiths or non-believers, I'm happy to answer any questions that I can.

Over the years I have heard some STRANGE things about my religion. Most of them have made me giggle because they were so out in left field. Some just leave me scratching my head. Here are a few I'd like to share that struck my funnybone:
Yes, we can drink milk.
Yes, we can eat chocolate.
Yes, we can dance (some of us are not real coordinated, but that's a personal problem, not a religious one).
No, we do not wear special bathing suits to get pregnant.
No, we do not worship seagulls or locusts.
and my personal favorite:
No, we DO NOT physically consumate our marriage on top of the alters in the temple, and DEFINITELY NOT in front of a group of people.

Birthdays

In our family, August and September are busy months. Jeremy & Kelli's Dad are both on August 17th, Kelli's Mom is the September 19th, her brother, Chris is the 22nd, and Kelli's the 28th. So it's back to back!

For Jeremy's birthday we went to Longhorn Steakhouse then to Frankie's Fun Park (Arcade, mini-golf, rock wall, bumper boats, go carts, etc.). It was his family & our friends, the Langdons.

Jeremy feeding tickets into the counter. We all gave him all our tickets from any games we played. He ended up with around 2500 tickets. (Still a little kid at heart!)

Kelli's birthday was 6 weeks later and we kept it low key. On Saturday night we went out to Texas Roadhouse for dinner with Chip & Jenny Langdon (since Kelli's birthday was on a Sunday). Chip really doesn't ride the little bus, he's just a goofball--any wonder he and Jeremy are friends?

On Kelli's actual birthday, we had Family Dinner at Jeremy's parents like we do every Sunday. They made Lumpia & Guamanian Chicken with Middle Eastern Salad, Kelli's favorite dinner.

Jeremy's Mom, Cindy, thought it would be funny to reverse the numbers. Heather didn't know about it until they went to pick it up and thought they'd gotten it wrong. Cindy thought that was funny too. Gotta admit, I thought the cake was hilarious. But it tasted good!

Jeremy wore swimming goggles because the smoker was making his eyes water. What a nutcase!

Jon & Jeremy thought it would be funny to pick up Heather in a two-man carry. You can see she wasn't too thrilled. Would you trust a man in swim goggles?

Sunrise on the Beach

It just seems like the thing to do when people visit...wake up before the birds and drive to the beach to collect shells. So that's what we did this morning with Kelli's folks and her brother, Christian.

After walking on the beach, Jeremy and Christian decided to go swimming and play frisbee. There had been a dog nearby for quite some time who decided to get in on the game. It was quite funny! She had a great time though! That is until she bit the frisbee in half. :)

Tonight we do fireworks. Fun day!

Post Op report

Well, Kelli had to have a D&C last Monday. All went well and the doctor has already mapped out a 'plan of attack' for our next try. But that won't be for a few months so that Kelli's body can rest. It's been a rough week physically, but everything is happening "normally" as part of the healing process. So we're grateful for that.

That's about all there is to report right now. We'll keep you posted.

Thank you to all for your prayers and words of encouragement. Emotionally we're doing well and still optimistic for the future. We'll get our twins yet! :)
